Can I book a course only, without accommodation?

Yes, of course you can, we give seperate prices for courses and accommodation, so you see what just the course will cost.

What if I´d like to bring a friend, who isn´t doing a course with you?

No problem, we can arrange accommodation for the two of you - not with private Berlin hosts (those accommodation types such as apartment share, bed & breakfast, host family), but in a studio on the GLS campus. Even though we cooperate with 500 Berlin households who take in our students, availibility is limited, as many don´t take in guests all year round, so that we reserve those types of accommodation to our course participants.

What are the distances between accommodation and school?

If you book studio accommodation, you live directly on campus. Re homestay options, it depends: we have homestay accommodations within walking distance to school as well as others, where commuting time is up to 50 minutes. As lots of students look for accommodation very much near GLS, we unfortunately can´t always fulfill that wish, especially not in high season.

Berlin is quite an extensive city, with more than one center and attractive districts spread all over the city. Some of GLS staff commute an hour one way every day. That won´t happen to you, though. The average commuting time is 25 minutes, the maximum 50 minutes. Often you are faster by bike than by public transport, and you can rent bicycles at the GLS office. For public transport you can get reductions with your GLS student ID - please bring 2 fotos, you need the for the student ID.

Do I have to bring pots, pans, sheets etc...?

No, whatever type of accommodation you choose - your hosts will always provide bed sheets.

• Re homestay accommodation: As far as cooking goes, you have the right to use kitchen facilities, if you book apartment share or bed & breakfast. Host family is a bit different: Your hosts provide breakfast and dinner, and here you can´t use kitchen facilities unless your host family agrees.

• Re campus accomodation: all studios are equipped with kitchen (plus TV and phone), bedsheets & linen are provided. When you move in, you will be asked to pay a security deposit, that we will return when you move out and no damage has been caused to the studio

What if I have special dietary needs?

If you are a vegetarian, have allergies or special dietary requirements, please let us know when you apply (just fill in the respective fields on the enrollment form). We then will take care, that you get an accommodation according to your requirements.

Can I change accommodation?

With stays of less than 4 weeks, you can´t, unless you have sound reason for demanding so. We carefully select and regularly inspect all accommodations, to make sure they meet all necessary standards. Should you have a good reason, though, for wanting to change, please come to our office immediately and we will try to solve the problem together.
